It has been 70 years since Mr.Chuta Ito, a pioneer in modern temple and shrine architecture from Yonezawa City, passed away. Mr.Ito was a recipient of the Order of Culture and the first honorary citizen of Yonezawa City.Today, Mr.Ito’s wide-ranging contributions not only in architecture but also in chemistry, education, and culture, as well as his fondness for “yokai” (Japanese folklore creatures), continue to attract fans.
This year’s “Youzan Public Symposium” will delve into the extensive and profound world of Mr.Chuta Ito and explore his enduring appeal.
