Count Uesugi Residence 100th Anniversary Reconstruction Project: ‘Unlocking 100 Years of the Count Uesugi Residence’ – Held from April 26 to June 22!

In 1925 (Taisho 14), the Count Uesugi Residence was rebuilt by Count Uesugi Noriaki. In 2025 (Reiwa 7), it will mark the 100th anniversary of its reconstruction.

This historic residence, which preserves the legacy and prestige of the former lords of the Yonezawa Domain, is now designated as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. Surrounded by the beauty of nature in every season, it stands quietly as a timeless symbol of heritage.

To commemorate this milestone, the Count Uesugi Residence will host a special event titled “Unlocking 100 Years” from Saturday, April 26 to Sunday, June 22, 2025.

Visitors will be able to freely explore the residence, where original blueprints and photographs from the time of its reconstruction will be on display. The event also offers a rare opportunity to delve into the rich history of the Uesugi family and the architectural beauty of the residence.

In addition, on Saturday, June 7, a special guided tour will be held, featuring commentary by experts in architecture and history, as well as curators from the museum.

The tour includes a luxurious experience: a special lunch recreating the traditional food culture of Yonezawa and a visit to a special exhibition at the Uesugi Museum.

This spring, we invite you to experience the refined aesthetics and enduring traditions of the Uesugi family, passed down through a century of history.
