Yonezawa City Ranked 15th in Japan’s Winter Attractiveness Top 30!
Yonezawa City has ranked 15th in the “Top 30 Municipalities for Winter Appeal,” selected from 1,741 municipalities nationwide. The ranking was conducted by the travel app NEWT, a platform for booking overseas and domestic tours and hotels.

On February 14 (Sat) and 15 (Sun), the Uesugi Snow Lantern Festival will be held in Yonezawa.
Approximately 200 snow lanterns and 1,000 small snow lights will be illuminated, transforming the entire Matsugasaki Park area into a magical world glowing in soft orange light.
These gentle lights, dedicated to prayers for peace, warmly brighten the harsh winter of this snow country and represent one of Yonezawa’s most iconic seasonal traditions.
