Where Uesugi Kagekatsu, Uesugi Yōzan, and Naoe Kanetsugu are enshrined

Uesugi Yōzan was previously enshrined at Uesugi Shrine (along with Uesugi Kenshin) before his remains were relocated to Matsugasaki Shrine in 1902.

Two ceremonies are held here every year: one for spring on April 30, and one for autumn on the last Saturday of September. The spring ceremony overlaps with the Yonezawa Uesugi Festival (held from April 29 - May 3), and Matsugasaki Shrine is very popular among visitors during this time.

A stone monument engraved with famous sayings from Uesugi Yōzan is located on the shrine grounds.
