Yonezawa Benibana Festival

Yonezawa Grand Fireworks Festival!

Enjoy the fireworks lighting up the night sky along with the music in this brand new event which will trailblaze a new summer tradition in Yonezawa!
Entry is also free!

Minamihara Art Walk 2023 (Free Entry)

Enjoy a trip through Minamihara as you admire the artworks! The theme of the 3rd Minamihara Art Walk is “Symbiosis with Nature”. End your summer with a look at the beautiful expressions of creativity in this grassroots project!

Atago Fire Festival

This is a festival jointly held by Atago Shrine and Hayama Shrine in the southwestern region of Yonezawa. It begins with the minshu tosan (people’s hike), and the shintai (the repository in which the kami resides) is brought up the mountain in the evening.

Date: 1st August 2023 (Tuesday)

Venue: Atago Shrine, various locations

60th Yonezawa Cool Summer Evening Aquatic Fireworks Festival

Over 6,000 fireworks will be shot against the backdrop of Uesugi Shrine! You can expect food stalls as well as song and dance performances at the venue!

Date: 4th August 2023 (Friday)
* Under severe weather conditions, the event will be postponed to 7th August (Monday)

Time: 7:30 pm ~ 9:00 pm
Performances will be held from 6:00 pm ~ 7:10 pm.

Venue: Matsugasaki Park

Yonezawa Ekimae Bon Odori Dance Festival

Participants are dressed to the nines for this bon odori dance!

Venue: Yonezawa Ekimae Multipurpose Square

Local Yonezawa Cooling Bon Odori Dance Festival

A bon odori dance festival organized by the Yonezawa Bon Odori Preservation Society with many Yonezawa residents who join in the festivities!
