Now Recruiting Participants for the 2026 Yonezawa Uesugi Festival Opening Ceremony

“Folk Dance Parade” & “Stage Events”

We are now inviting participants to join the Folk Dance Parade and Stage Events at the Opening Ceremony of the Yonezawa Uesugi Festival on Wednesday, April 29 (National Holiday), 2026.

Let’s celebrate the arrival of spring in Yonezawa by energizing the opening of the Uesugi Festival with a vibrant folk dance parade and lively stage performances!

In addition, the “Shin Hanagasa Ondo” will be revived for the first time in 25 years, bringing even more excitement to the parade.

We look forward to your participation!


【Folk Dance Parade】

Date & Time:
Wednesday, April 29, 2026 (National Holiday)
11:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. (scheduled)

Venue:
From the Former Yoneori Kaikan Hall to the plaza in front of Denkoku no Mori (scheduled)

Details:
Alternating parade performances of “Shin Hanagasa Ondo” and “Hanagasa Ondo”

Participation Fee:
Free of charge

Practice Sessions:
April 9, 16, and 23 (Every Thursday)
6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Yonezawa City Gymnasium


【Stage Events】

Date & Time:
Wednesday, April 29, 2026 (National Holiday)
9:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (scheduled)

Venue:
Special stage in front of Denkoku no Mori

Details:
Performances such as singing and dancing, as well as traditional local arts including folk songs and taiko drumming

Participation Fee:
Free of charge

Other Information:
If there are a large number of applicants, participating groups may be selected and adjusted accordingly.
